Some are annoyed by them, but skateboarders are more beneficial to society than we give them credit for. I would say any self-respecting city needs a scrappy band of skateboarders or two. Certainly, this scrappy artist has no qualms sharing the park with them.
The drawing above was done after a short morning nap in Takamatsu’s Central Park, which in turn came after a weary-eyed 3-hour sleep on the floor of a night ferry from Kobe. I remember it being fun when I was in my 30s. Think I will take the normal day ferry next time.
I have been getting really deep into research and somewhat heavy projects, and when that happens, I tend to become too serious for my own good — and certainly, too serious for the good of my work!
Thus, my editor (aka: wife who was a book editor in her past life) suggested getting back to basics; focus every now and again, on what flows from me with joy. It will give me energy for the longer and more in-depth work, she says.

I saw your post on Facebook, but I waited to actually be in the park to read your post. And indeed, the skateboarders are here and are having fun, and they're much less disturbers of the peace than the highschoolers who have taken over the kids playground at the moment.
